How we test and score
We outfit real Teslas and check every pick against the exact model and model year it claims to fit, because a wrong-fit part is the most common and most expensive accessory mistake an owner makes.
Who reviews these picks
Aaron Howell, Tesla Owner since 2014
Aaron has owned and lived with Teslas since 2014, across multiple models and the recent refreshes. He tests and writes WattCabin’s accessory reviews with an eye for real fitment and everyday usability.
What we score on
Every pick is judged on the same criteria. We weight them by what actually matters for the way you will use the gear, then write up the tradeoffs honestly.
Fitment accuracy
We confirm the exact model and model year a part fits, including Highland Model 3, Juniper Model Y, and Cybertruck, so you do not buy the wrong cut twice.
Protection and coverage
How much the part actually protects: water and debris capacity for mats, UV and heat rejection for sunshades, scratch resistance for screen protectors.
Fit and finish
Whether it looks and feels close to OEM or clearly aftermarket, and whether it stays put in daily driving.
Install effort
How long it takes, whether tools or a licensed electrician are needed, and how cleanly it goes in.
Value
Price weighed against the protection and longevity you get, not just the lowest sticker.
How our picks work
Each category roundup is ranked by our editorial score. The highest-scored option carries the Top Pick badge. Separately, the option that delivers the most for the money carries the Best Value badge. They are often different products on purpose: the best-scored is not always the smartest buy for most people, and we tell you which is which.
What we never do
- We take no payment, free product, or sponsorship in exchange for coverage or a ranking. There are no paid placements.
- We say what is wrong with a product, not just what is right. Every pick lists real tradeoffs.
- We match recommendations to your situation (fitment, skill level, budget, and use case) instead of pushing one product on everyone.
- We keep our picks current and re-check them as products and prices change.
How we make money
WattCabin is funded by affiliate commissions. When you buy through a link on our site, the retailer may pay us a small commission at no additional cost to you. That funding never influences our scores or our picks. Full details are on our affiliate disclosure.
